Manufacturer & GSIUR guidance

Gas Service & Maintenance Record

A gas service and maintenance record documents the work carried out when a Gas Safe registered engineer services a gas appliance or boiler. It gives the customer proof of the service and the readings taken.

Servicing follows the manufacturer's instructions together with the safe working practices set out under the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.

TradePlanr lets you record the service on your phone, capture combustion readings and the tasks completed, and issue a clear PDF to the customer before you leave.

  • The basis followed: manufacturer instructions and current gas safety guidance

When it's required

A service record is issued whenever a gas appliance or boiler is serviced. Annual servicing is widely recommended to keep appliances safe, efficient and to maintain manufacturer warranties.

Many manufacturers require annual servicing by a competent registered engineer as a condition of keeping the warranty valid, so the record is important evidence.

Servicing and any gas work must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, whose details should appear on the record.
